About Usui Shiki Ryoho

My Reiki practice is called Usui Shiki Ryoho - The Usui Method of Natural Healing. It was first developed by Mikao Usui of Taniai Village, Gifu after he endeavored to understand energetic healing and completed a 21-day meditation on Mt. Kurama in 1922. Usui taught a naval doctor named Chujiro Hayashi, whose student Hawayo Takata brought the practice from Japan to Hawaii and eventually the United States. Before she passed, Takata recognized her granddaughter Phyllis Furumoto as her lineage bearer, who in turn recognized her student Johannes Reindl as our current Usui Shiki Ryoho lineage bearer.
